Inside Albania takes you on a tour of Albania from north to south, east to west, and everywhere in between. It showcases the cities, villages, and sites of interest, through photographs shot between 2017 and 2025 by journalist Alice Taylor.
But this is not just a guide to where to go and what to do. Inside Albania takes you deeper and below the surface of a country with a fascinating history, steeped in tradition and a rich, diverse culture. It transports you to off-the-beaten-track locations, tells you the stories of the past and present, and brings you face to face with some of the people that make the country what it is.
From the three cities of Kukës to the ancient ruins of Butrint, from the vibrant atmosphere of Krujë’s Old Bazaar to the skilled textile weavers of Lezhë and the saffron pickers of Berat, this book reveals the essence of Albania.
You need a lifetime to explore everything Albania has to offer, but this book is a great place to start.

Biography
Alice Taylor is a British-born journalist who has lived in Albania since 2017. She came to Tirana for a three-day holiday and, through a curious chain of events, ended up staying and making it her home. Alice is now married, has a young daughter, has obtained Albanian citizenship, and has dedicated her professional life to exploring, documenting, and promoting Albania.
She is the first and only foreign journalist to work locally, as well as corresponding for international media. As well as Inside Albania, she has written Alice in Albania: 250 Adventures, a bilingual exploration of the people, places, and quirks that shaped her first seven years in the country. She also wrote Tales from North Albania, a collection of poems on the culture and attractions of places such as Shëngjin, Tropojë, Peshkopi, Kukës, and Mirdita.
In addition to her writing, she has a weekly TV show on Euronews Albania, Inside Albania — which inspired the name of this book — where she explores politics, culture, history, and social issues. She also creates informative and offbeat videos on social media of her experiences and travels, as well as humorous observations she makes along the way.
When not writing, travelling, taking photographs, or filming, Alice lives with her family and a pack of rescue pets between Tirana and Shëngjin.
