The Art Gallery is an important cultural institution in the city of Shkodra. It was founded in 1973 and its mission is to collect, conserve and exhibit works of visual art. It also promotes the creativity of the artists of the city of Shkodra and contemporary developments in Albanian art and beyond. This gallery is the residence of a permanent exhibition with the most selected works of the authors. It has a rich fund of works by local and national painters. The collection of this gallery includes works from the Renaissance period, the one after the Second World War, Socialist Realism and until the last years of the beginning of the new century. Within the collection of the Art Gallery in Shkodra are exhibited in its two halls: about 700 paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, as well as other works, realized by Albanian artists during the last century.
