"Evoked – Architectural Diptychs" – Print by EJAlbum

"Evoked – Architectural Diptychs" – Print by EJAlbum

Another rather good exhibition in which we had the chance to collaborate and to give our contribution by curating the prints and the informational signage. "EVOKED" comes to the public as an investigation into the informal construction taking place in the country since the start of the 1990s. EVOKED is an exhibition that takes a different look at the phenomenon of the "flourishing" of informal and uncontrolled housing on Albanian territory since 1991. Unfinished construction and the unusual way of using concrete structures that are still under construction has produced a characteristic image that persists to this day, one that has changed the landscape, especially the coastline.

There are 16 Albanian architects: A. Baboçi, A. Biçoku, Studio B&L, T. Dano, E. Fagu, E. Godo, A. Golemi, A. Koçollari, A. Lufi, K. Merxhani, M. Mitrojorgji, A. Raça, D. Tytymçe, P. Vaso, M. Velo, A. Vokshi, and 16 Italian architects: Studio MA0, L. Galofaro, C. Baglivo, Studio BOMA, Ch. Gambardella, C. Moccia, B. Servino, D. Vargas, Studio 2A+P/A, F. A. Fusco, L. Netti, Studio Spacelab, M. Beccu, L. Ruali, M. Ghidoni, Studio OfCA, who come to this exhibition through new concepts and interesting proposals, curated by A. Greca, A. Koçollari, A. B. Menghini, D. Pastore, F. Pashako and G. Resta.

The 16 photographs are by photographer Albes Fusha, images on which the architects, through diptychs, have built conceptual works, reflecting within limited frames and seeking to open a public discussion on the theme of the landscape built informally and inhabited while it is still "under construction," in order to uncover the potential of these structures. Likewise, by investigating the degradation and the degree of decay of the landscape, the aim is to give this landscape a new environmental and legal dignity.

EJAlbum used various materials and techniques in producing this exhibition: prints on foam board with edging, on aluminium, on forex, banner printing, paper, transparent lettering, print&cut, etc. The exhibition remained open for over 2 weeks, from 22 February to 6 March 2016, at the FAB Gallery, University of Arts, Tirana.
