Sofia and Androniqi Zengo – Exhibition in Korça
Interactive Installation / Videomapping
Multimedia Hall of the Library, Korça (AL)
An immersive art experience.
This project starts from Sofia and Androniqi Zengo, the first professional women painters in Albania, and their family — a dynasty of Albanian artists — but we choose to make it a fully immersive art experience. In fact, starting from the video-mapping technique, thanks to video-projection technology in the dedicated multimedia hall in Korça, it becomes possible to personalize and give a unique character to a stunning exhibition of the Zengo family’s works in their own city. The exhibition brings these two authors and traditional Albanian art closer to a completely different public. And in a different way.
And even more: The methodology chosen for this project is the laboratory one, and more concretely the project aims to be carried out through the exchange of experience between professionals and the city’s talented young people. The goal is not merely the transfer of knowledge or skills, but enabling young people to learn independently, thereby, through this project, increasing capacities and bringing young people closer to a world that is not only interesting for them, but also a real and concrete opportunity in the labor market. The entire didactic program was divided into several stages: theoretical, practical-remote and, of course, in preparation.
Above all, it remains an experimental work and an absolute novelty in Albania, and the exhibition is a unique and unforgettable experience. All of this happened thanks to a great idea, the great artists involved and a fantastic and highly motivated staff and institutions that believe in changing a paradigm — where art is an engine not only of culture, but also of a country’s economy.
