Tirana Photo Festival

Tirana Photo Festival

Tirana Photo Festival has already become the most beloved photography festival for the young people of Albania. In this fifth edition we are happy that the community of photographers has grown and become a fellow traveler of our mission: to promote Albania through photography.

The theme of this edition was Youth/Rinia, for many reasons. First, because for the first time Tirana holds the title of European Youth Capital 2022, and this year youth was the keyword of the many activities in the heart of Albania. On the other hand, the mass departure of young people seems to have turned into a wound of our society, as villages and other cities have emptied and very few of those who left return. Through the applicants’ photographs, we thought to bring a picture of today’s youth — the youth that works, studies and has fun; the youth that suffers and leaves; the youth that dreams, that explores and promotes Albania.

This exhibition took its start in the streets of Tirana, displaying the photographs of participants from past editions.

The exhibition was open to the public at the Art Gallery on 09–23 September and the award ceremony took place on 11 September.

The winners of this edition were:
Joni Markgjeka – First prize;
Sabina Kanina – Second prize;
Griseld Hoxha – Third prize
