“Onufri Remade” Special Prize
“ONUFRI REMADE”
Alternative Space of Contemporary Art
We are pleased to announce the awarding of the Prize “ONUFRI REMADE – SPECIAL PRIZE” within the framework of the edition #OPEN of the exhibition held at the National Gallery of Kosovo during 12–25 February 2020. The prize was awarded in this period due to the lockdown of the past months. The event took place at the Sculptors’ Studio, Komuna e Parisit St. on Tuesday, 14 July 2020, at 11.00.
SPECIAL PRIZE
Artist: VLADIMIR MYRTEZAI-GROSHA
The work: Repast / Vakti Mixed installation (mixed technique) / Material: wooden trestles and support, tablecloth, table service, wooden frames, metal vase, bean plants, fertilizer. / Artist’s collection.
The text: “This reaction comes from an alarming relationship of societies towards the pleasures that have to do with everyday life. A society that in all its appearance is superimposed, at first call, upon the feast of eating a meal. A phenomenon generalized as a growing culture against the culture deepened toward taste and pleasure. Yet meanwhile a threatening relationship towards what is called cultural balance, spiritual nourishment or the play of the mind. Mediation through texts, as an evocation to raise cultural awareness and a bio-organic process served upon an improvised platform of interventions, which set in motion the process of thinking and reflection as the implication of a kind of metaphor, at the center of all this intervening interdependence in the installation.”
About “ONUFRI REMADE”
Clearly inspired by “Marcel Duchamp” from its very title, this exhibition evokes a shift of the critical mass in favor of the artists, placing them in an ambivalent position: It is time to step out of line, to make noise, to disturb, to reflect, to dialogue, to create space, to occupy the missing space. It is time to attempt. Onufri has this mission, has always had it, and it is time to bring it back.
