Family Art Guides presents “Tirana Castles” in the heart of the city

The Castles and Fortresses of Tirana – Presentation event at Tirana Castle
19 November 2023 | Tirana Castle

On 19 November 2023, the project “The Castles and Fortresses of Tirana – A Guide for Children and Youth” (Tirana Castles) organized by Family Art Guides was presented in one of the capital’s historic spaces, at Tirana Castle. The event brought together children, parents and visitors for an afternoon dedicated to discovering heritage through illustration and creative education.

Unlike a formal presentation, the activity was conceived as a hands-on experience in the field. The children explored the castle grounds using the guides as orientation tools, discovering architectural elements, stories and details that often go unnoticed. The illustrations and the guide’s simplified language helped them build a more personal relationship with the historic space.

During the afternoon, open conversations were held about the role of castles in the city’s history, along with small creative exercises that connected the children’s imagination with the real structures around them. This approach aimed to turn the castle visit into an active learning process, where history is experienced and not merely heard.

The event of 19 November marked another important step in the project’s journey, putting the guide to practical use and strengthening the bond between children and Tirana’s cultural heritage. Through this gathering, the project continued to build an educational model that brings the young generation closer to history, through art and the direct experience of space.

This project is organized by Shoqata MeWe and EJAlbum, with the support of the Municipality of Tirana.
