About Anastas Kostandini

Born in 1954 in Pogradec, where he lives and works, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana in 1978, Department of Monumental and Easel Painting. In 1991, he received the Deserving Artist award. Besides painting, he creates mosaics and murals, many of them among the most important in Albania. He’s also an illustrator of poems and prose. He has organized and participated in many painting colonies. “Picnic” represents the artist’s walk toward freedom. A black and white family picture from the ‘90s – the period that divides the life of the man and artist –is transformed into a painting.

His first solo exhibition dates back in 1983 in Tirana, Albania, and was followed by exhibitions in USA, France, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Romania, Macedonia, etc.
